High-value skills = higher rates.

Think about it—general VA tasks at $30 an hour make it tough to reach $10K months. But skills like email marketing, social media management, project management, or online course support? Those can be game-changers. Clients will pay higher prices for specialized skills that add value to their business.

And hey, you don’t have to be an expert at first—just know enough to help your clients!

Every client uses different tools to run their business, and if you already know them? That’s a MAJOR advantage.

Clients don’t want to hire someone they have to teach. I made it a point to get familiar with tools like Asana, QuickBooks, Zapier, and other popular software. Knowing these tools not only sets you apart from other VAs but also adds to your value in the eyes of clients.

Let’s talk about rates! Raising your prices can feel a little intimidating, but here’s the deal…

As your experience and skills grow, your rates should reflect that growth. When you learn new tools, add skills, and deliver more value, it’s fair to increase your rates. And trust me, clients will understand, especially when you explain the investment you’ve made in yourself to better serve them.

I learned that lower-paying clients often expect the most—they’re usually the ones pushing boundaries and squeezing every dollar.
